I would never have thought that prison life would have been like this but in all honesty, i can relate now, having had to go into US Federal prison myself much later on in life after having watched this film. This film is just incredible in how it captured the spirit of ordinary people caught up in the prison system which is still in place to this day. We refer to it as the meat grinder. The film captures how people, through their own misfortunes and circumstances have found themselves in prison, even though they might not be a ‘criminal’ in essence. the emotion of the film is just awesome and this is why it will always be referred to when anyone is talking about prison or prison films. the ultimate classic film.

With a brilliant cast, story line, director and set, this is a master piece rivaled only by T2, Titanic, The Rock, and perhaps Dances with Wolves.

Imagine going to prison in 1927, nine years after WW1. Then getting out in 1967, during the height of the Vietnam war. that would be just crazy for the human brain to dissect.
Just saw this movie last week for the very first time. my favorite movie of all time now ive already watched it 3 other times. Me neither you guys run this place like a fuckin prison has me dying every time 😂.

Im trying to save money, this is the last movie title that should consider borrowing. Shawshank rental costs five dollars… Just plunk down $ 25 to own the title. You’ll wind up going back time and again this gem. This is one of the few films that are truly timeless. And it’s fun and move forward, no matter how many times you see about what other people (including me) might suggest you’ll discover in Shawshank Redemption, when you look, you realize something very personal in life and the scene, character, or time in the movie uncomplicated. When you have hope, you look Shawshank. When you want to believe in the will to overcome even the biggest obstacles, Shawshank will raise in ways that can not get in movies today. Some liken the film to some sort of spiritual awakening. Of course, some may go to church seeking enlightenment and faith in humanity, but many places of worship are open only certain days or times. But when you have proof of permanent connection thips frier to prevail over bad condition, Shawshank will give you. It makes grown men (like me) crying, but still. I wonder whether Shawshank was really meant for viewing in the privacy of the home, because it is a personal experience that really makes you look inside. Nominated for seven, this is the best film Oscar was never the same. How ironic that winds innocent person while surrounded by a corrupt legal system. Shawshank itself is similar to the character of Andy Dufresne. Prejudice of this classic film critics could not get past the title. public followed suit, originally expelled Shawshank, which failed at the box office as his wonderful life and Citizen Kane. It can only be whithered off store shelves, as Andy Dufresne may be in its own cell. But players win because Andy – The Shawshank – remained faithful. Now, these movies are right up there as the most popular film of all time. Anyone who has seen Shawshank can be so jaded theater or movie title, or 2-1/2- hour movie set within the walls of the prison may fail to accommodate diverse as the soul of the people. Shawshank is not an explosion. I wonder if it even has a special effect or image computer enhanced technology. But every aspect of Shawshank fit together. proceeding from top to small parts. Scores. editing. image. story, from the opening credits to the final area. All those involved, including the city of Mansfield, Ohio (where Shawshank was actually recorded) played their roles perfectly. Shawshank is a must-see, must-own title.

Haha I like to the think the I had your momma, Lord name in vain and They run this place like a prison was all from the same guy. He’s just some chill dude who specialises in one-liners and sometimes does standup in the court yard.
The popularity of this film seems to stem with the current emotional appeals and issues of today, just as Citizen Kane seemed to do when it was revived. What makes Citizen Kane more appealing to me though is the abundance of creativity in telling the story.
If you want a highly emotional experience, I would watch this movie. Since I am for more intelligent and unpredictable type films, I am not one for movies like this.
And if I would explain the movie in one sentence, I would say it is a classic cinema soap opera, perfectly crafted to emotionally stimulate movie viewers, in order for them to hold certain perspectives on societal issues.

I just notice something after rewatching the lord of the flies all 3 movies, but Frodo just carries a ring and doesn’t do much besides be in danger and having the others to save doesn’t even bring nothing to the table, he only save smeagol and doesn’t even tell smeagol why he lured into a tap in the second movie and this one. sam is real hero, he saved Frodo more than onces. and you can see his passion for help Frodo, hes not getting paid or anything like that. he really wanted to help Frodo bc he really cares about him. now of days. you don’t seeing anybody on real life, people help to get something out of it. but when I was younger and living in the 90s. you could see a lot especially in children to be a good friend.
